Early Life

Rajesh was born on December 20, 1949 in Mannargudi, Tiruvarur district, Tamil Nadu. He pursued his early education in various towns including Dindigul and Chinnamanur. Before entering the film industry, he worked as a teacher in Chennai.

Film Career

Rajesh began his acting career with a small role in Aval Oru Thodar Kathai (1974). He gained prominence with his lead role in Kanni Paruvathile (1979). Over five decades, he acted in over 150 films across Tamil, Malayalam, and Telugu languages.

Beyond acting, he was involved in real estate and hotel businesses and authored biographies of Hollywood actors in Tamil.

Personal Life

In 1983, Rajesh married Joan Sylvia Vanathirayar, granddaughter of social reformist Pattukottai Davis Vanathirayar. They had two children, Divya and Deepak. His wife passed away in 2012.

Passing and Legacy

Rajesh passed away on May 29, 2025 at the age of 75, due to health complications. His death was mourned by many in the film industry, including close friend Rajinikanth, who expressed his condolences publicly.
