Rafale-Marine: Enhancing India's Naval Strength (April 2025)

India signed a ₹63,000 crore deal with France for 26 Rafale-Marine jets designed for aircraft carriers—marking a major leap in naval capabilities and strategic defence goals.

🛫 Rafale-M: Carrier-Based Jet Power

The Rafale-Marine is a multirole, carrier-compatible aircraft capable of performing air defence, anti-ship, and ground strike missions. It features:

  • Reinforced gear and tail hook for ship landings
  • AESA radar & electronic warfare suite (SPECTRA)
  • Missiles: MICA, Meteor, SCALP-EG, Exocet
  • Top speed: Mach 1.8 | Ceiling: 50,000 feet

🇫🇷 India-France Defence Ties

This isn’t India’s first Rafale deal—36 Air Force jets were acquired in 2016. With this addition, India will operate both air and naval Rafales, second only to France.
