DPIIT Approves 187 Startups for Tax Relief

Significant Boost to Startups

The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has approved 187 startups for income tax exemption under the revamped Section 80-IAC of the Income Tax Act. This decision was made during the 80th meeting of the Inter-Ministerial Board (IMB) on 30th April 2025.

Eligibility Extended

Startups incorporated before 1st April 2030 are now eligible to apply for tax benefits, allowing more time for new ventures to take advantage of this financial relief.

Faster Decision-Making

The revised evaluation framework ensures that complete applications are reviewed within 120 days, promoting a more structured and transparent process.

Encouragement for Non-Approved Startups

Startups that were not approved are encouraged to refine their applications, focusing on technological innovation, market potential, and scalability.
